Global automotive supplier Dr Schneider has gone back to Infor, choosing the latest version of its auto industry ERP system Infor ERP Xpert over SAP.
Michael Bär, director IT services at Dr Schneider explains that pilot projects showed that extensive customisation would be required for the SAP solution to meet its industry-specific needs.
The company had decided to expand on its SAP financial backbone to include SAP ERP, but instead will now use the Infor Flex programme to upgrade its existing system to the most recent version of ERP Xpert at six locations.
In Germany and Poland, the deployment is planned for the next nine to 11 months, followed by Spain in 2011.
Infor ERP Xpert supports automotive processes, such as third-party business, delivery-in-name-of, delivery cascades, extended workbench and warehouse consignment.
"Our administration recognised that, to further our Lean processes, we would require new functionality from an ERP system to handle specific processes, such as supplier requests or automatic disposition," says Bär.
"The pilot projects we explored with SAP required an expanded IT infrastructure, including additional personnel and paperwork. So, instead we chose Infor ERP Xpert, which automates our processes so that we can work efficiently with our existing team," he adds.
