Luxury motor yacht manufacturer Fairline Boats is to extend its ERP system with an upgrade to Infor SyteLine,
It's part of an ongoing programme of business transformation that will, according to the company, see Fairline radically reshaping its manufacturing processes to improve customer service and drive growth.
Dominic Ruscillo, head of IT at Fairline Boats, explains that the firm is moving to a flexible production schedule using cellular manufacturing and production lines.
This, he says, led to a major re-engineering of business processes across all production facilities and a wide range of business functions – including production, shopfloor data capture, material movements and supply chain planning.
Fairline also anticipates that the ERP upgrade will enable it to axe 99% of the customisations made to the current version of the SyteLine application.
The improved usability of the upgraded SyteLine – especially the enhanced integration and extraction of data – will, says Ruscillo, enable Fairline to eliminate these application modifications and maintain a viable upgrade path for future growth.
"We are embarking on a radical transformation programme designed to make Fairline more agile and better able to serve our customers," says Ruscillo.
"As this, in turn, will drive growth, we needed a system that was not only flexible but scalable to meet the increased demand that will be placed on it."
