The Food and Drink Federation has accepted manufacturing ERP software developer Solarsoft as a full commercial partner.
Darren Frost, IT director of Uniq Prepared Foods, which is an established Solarsoft Tropos ERP user, believes the agreement is positive news for the sector.
"Solarsoft's solutions help Uniq to manage the key challenges in food manufacturing, such as effective traceability, control of yield, wastage and packaging, and managing the requirements of major retailers," he explains.
"I'm sure that FDF members will benefit from Solarsoft's experience, and that Solarsoft's product development will benefit from FDF's insight into the needs of our sector," he adds.
Solarsoft, and before it, SSI and Tropos, have been developing ERP software for the process and specifically food and drink industry since 1990.
Clive Thomas, EMEA sales director of Solarsoft Business Systems, makes the point that it's not just about the manufacture and distribution of chilled, frozen and ambient food and drink products – important though these are.
Traceability, quality, waste minimisation, regulatory compliance and rapid fulfilment are also key features of Solarsoft's Tropos ERP, he asserts.
"We are looking forward to working closely with the FDF to help both new and existing members to address the industry's key challenges in sustainability, food safety and supply chain efficiency," says Thomas.
"Effective industry-specific software is vital to the competitiveness of food manufacturing businesses, and we are pleased that, through this partnership, our members can more easily benefit from Solarsoft's extensive knowledge and experience in process IT manufacturing systems."
