Uniq Prepared Foods in Northampton reports successful commissioning of its new ERP software, from Solarsoft.
This £450,000 Tropos implementation (developed by SSI, now part of Solarsoft) was aimed at improving stock management, modernising quality control, reducing waste and labour and streamlining reporting processes – and Uniq says it will realise a full ROI within three years.
Solarsoft is already being used at Uniq's dessert plants in Devon and Shropshire. Says Darren Atkinson, supply chain manager at Uniq, explains: "Solarsoft's Tropos software is already widely used in the UK food and drinks industries. It has been developed for regulated, short-cycle demand-driven process manufacturers so it has all of the specialist functionality we were looking for."
He expects the reporting functionality to save "a great deal of time and money" by providing one version of the truth to all 1,000 staff across the organisation.
"The new ERP system enables those in the warehouse, the technical team, the finance team and business planners, access to real-time visibility of information," adds Atkinson.
Tropos modules implemented include warehouse management, purchasing management, quality control and financial management. The system also covers real-time data capture, production scheduling and waste reduction at the plant.
