Renshawnapier says its decision to go with Infor ERP System21 over SAP, following consolidation of two group operating companies, has reduced costs, and standardised and consolidated processes.
John Taubman, head of IT at parent company The Real Good Food Group, says it has also resulted in tightened MRP, forecasting, inventory, warehousing and financials – together delivering improved productivity.
He explains that Napier Brown Foods had been running SAP while Renshaw was supported on Infor ERP System21. System21 Aurora was chosen to run the new organisation's three UK production sites and sales office, he claims, because it "could be adapted to fit the complex manufacturing processes and demands of the new company more quickly and cost effectively than SAP".
Says Taubman: "The ability to implement quickly to a tight budget, combined with an in-depth understanding of the challenges we face, were instrumental in making the choice.
"We already had a long standing relationship with Infor, and it was this, in conjunction with an in-depth understanding of the complexities of the food manufacturing industry that clinched the deal."
In fact, Aurora 2.3 went in across all sites at the height of the recession, with Infor's consultants working alongside the company to transfer data and verify the latest version. Taubman says raw materials costs were rising at the time, squeezing margins and forcing a review of manufacturing costs.
"Our expectations of this project were therefore set high, as the software was integral to maximising the benefits of the consolidation of Renshaw and Napier," he explains. "But, through de-duplicating processes and reducing costs, while at the same time delivering the high service levels and fulfilment our customers and partners expect, it hasn't let us down," he continues.
Indeed, he indicates that Aurora has strengthened and improved both the accuracy and availability of the manufacturer's management information, which has "increased visibility and improved decision-making".
"System21 Aurora is more cost effective and less complex than SAP, and users have given us some great feedback on the interface, which undoubtedly encourages greater use of the system, expediting the benefits," states Taubman.
Renshawnapier is now looking at how to strip out costs and make improvements to the supply chain, using System21 Aurora, and Taubman says he expects to drive even greater savings in the future.
