Pharmaceuticals firm Mundipharma International says it has selected Infor SCM Demand Planning software to better balance supply and demand across eight European countries, while also optimising its inventory and service levels.
Warren Eagling, Mundipharma's European supply chain manager, says that the supply chain planning suite will replace the organisation's spreadsheet-based planning system, which has been hampering visibility and no longer supports the company's requirements.
"Ensuring the availability of products is absolutely imperative in our industry, [so] we need a demand planning system that leaves no margin for error, and enables us to meet demand, while minimising oversupply," explains Eagling .
"We were impressed by the capabilities of Infor SCM Demand Planning – in particular, its ability to support our complex supply chain, which is comprised of numerous third parties," he adds.
Eagling believes the solution will improve visibility across Mundipharma's supply chain, which includes independent associated companies (IACs) that are responsible for sales, marketing and logistics in their countries, as well as a European distribution centre in Holland and multiple third party suppliers.
He also expects better demand forecast accuracy, which will help to improve availability of products and reduce inventory, and adds that the IACs will get local market intelligence, enabling demand to be managed more tightly.
The system is expected to go live in November for 21 users across the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland.
